Stories from The Forest: Oral History Project with PCI
With more than 22,000 living alumni, it would take many years to meet with each of you individually. That’s why we’ve decided to embark on a new project to collect the stories of alums in your own words, with the help of our partnership with PCI. These stories will preserve for Drew the legacy of your experience and the impact Drew has had on your lives and who you are today. Every year we don’t capture and preserve these stories feels like another opportunity lost, so we’re excited to get started today!
We hope you share YOUR Drew story, but here are a few ideas to consider:
With only our resources, we’d never be able to tackle a project like this. By partnering with PCI, we’re able to access their trained staff of real, thoughtful human beings who are excited to listen to what you have to share. PCI will collect and assemble the stories for Drew. This project is being done at no cost to Drew. Drew will have free access, in perpetuity, to ALL stories and the ability to share them with our alums from time to time.
Submitting a story is also at no cost to our alums, and, though PCI will ask if our alums wish to purchase a package when calling to share their stories, and alums may choose to purchase the book or other Drew items as part of the project, there is never any obligation to make a purchase. Our singular goal is to hear your stories. Additionally, we will have Drew’s copies of the end product (a coffee table style book) available for our alums to peruse at their leisure, free of charge, in the Alumni Office and the Library, as well as at certain events.
Soon you will be receiving email and postcard communications from the PCI team with instructions on how to participate by setting up an interview time with a PCI team member.
We’d like to invite you to share one of your stories and take part in this groundbreaking project to honor the experiences and voices of our alumni body.
The PCI team will collect stories until about August 2021.
After that, they will enter a post-production phase editing the data and requesting your approval (more details here). We hope to have the book distributed in late 2021/early 2022.
As part of this project, we are also taking this opportunity to help make it easier for you to stay connected to Drew. PCI will help us collect updated contact information from those of you who may have moved and/or inadvertently lost touch with your alma mater.
We have answers to the questions alumni ask most often.
