Grad & Guest Guidelines

Parking

  • Parking on campus is first-come, first-served. We encourage graduates and guests to carpool and/or use ride-share services, if possible.
  • All guests must enter through the Lancaster Avenue entrance.
  • Parking will be available for all guests and graduates starting 90 minutes prior to their designated Commencement ceremony time.
  • Guest parking will be available in the Main lot, Tilghman lot, and Ehinger Center (EC) lot on Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14. Additional parking for guests will be available in the Sitterly (Commuter) lot and Methodist Church lot on Saturday, May 14. 
  • In the event that graduates are carpooling with guests attending the ceremony, the vehicle should park in the designated guest parking lot and enter through the Lancaster Avenue entrance. Graduates should proceed to the graduate check-in location in Baldwin Gym while guests go directly to the ceremony venue on Mead Hall Lawn.

Ceremony Policies/Procedures

  • There is no limit to the number of guests per graduate for the 2022 Commencement ceremonies. There are no tickets or reservations required for guests.
  • Guest seating will open one hour before each ceremony and is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • There will be an alternative viewing location on campus in Crawford Hall in the Ehinger Center (EC) for guests, if needed.
  • Guests unable to join for the in-person celebration may view the livestream off campus at drew.edu/commencement.
  • Please do not bring large bags or backpacks. Weapons, fireworks, cans, bottles (other than water bottles), alcoholic beverages, or laser pointers will not be allowed at the venue.
  • There will be concessions available on site for guests to purchase prior to the ceremony. Starbucks Coffee will be open in the Ehinger Center on Friday, May 13, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, May 14, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Restrooms will be available on site for all guests.
  • Guests MUST remain seated in designated guest seating areas during the ceremony. Graduate and guest seating will be separate.

Weather

  • At this time, we plan to host all Commencement ceremonies outside on Mead Hall Lawn. Any changes to this plan will be communicated with updated instructions campus-wide ASAP.
  • Please dress appropriately for the weather. We suggest bringing an umbrella, rain jacket, poncho, etc., in the case of inclement weather.
  • Sunscreen, hats, and other protective sun gear are also encouraged.

Flowers via the Drew Bookstore Booth

  • Flowers are available for online pre-order through the Drew University Bookstore here through Thursday, May 12, at 8 p.m. ET.
  • All online orders will be available for pickup on site the day of your graduate’s Commencement ceremony outside Seminary Hall.
  • There will be a selection of flowers available for purchase day-of, on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Accessibility

  • Handicap parking will be available for those with a visible disability parking placard or license plate. Please ask a Campus Security officer for assistance finding handicap parking upon arrival if needed. ADA accessible seating will be available at the ceremony venue.
  • Each ceremony will have a certified sign language interpreter present.
  • Assisted listening systems will be available for guests upon request at all ceremonies. Please ask an usher for assistance if needed.

Graduate Guidelines

  • PARKING: All graduates/students parking on campus must enter through the Glenwild Road entrance. Parking for graduates/students will be in the back of campus—in the Glenwild lot, HERB Circle, Asbury lot, Hoyt-Brown lot, behind Welch-Holloway, or along Riker Road. Additional parking for graduates/students will also be available in the Sabatini Elementary School lot on Saturday only. Parking will be available for all graduates starting 90 minutes prior to their designated Commencement ceremony. In the event that graduates are carpooling with guests attending the ceremony, the vehicle should park in the designated guest parking lot and enter through Lancaster Avenue entrance. Graduates should proceed to the graduate check-in location in Baldwin Gym while guests go directly to the ceremony venue on Mead Hall Lawn.
  • CHECK-IN: Graduates must check in inside Baldwin Gym beginning one hour prior to the ceremony.
  • SEATING: Graduates must remain seated in their designated seating area during the ceremony unless otherwise instructed. Graduate and guest seating will be separate.
  • RESTROOMS: Restrooms will be available in Baldwin Gym for graduates prior to the procession start.
  • REGALIA: All graduates should come robed in their appropriate regalia. Graduates will not be permitted to process without proper regalia.
  • ATTIRE/BAGS: Graduates will process from Baldwin Gym to Mead Hall Lawn. Please dress appropriately. Festive mortar boards are highly encouraged! Do not bring large bags or backpacks. Weapons, fireworks, cans, bottles (other than water bottles), alcoholic beverages, or laser pointers will not be allowed at the venue.
