Drew eSports Team Wins League of Legends Championship

Qualifies for national tournament.

April 2019 – Drew University’s eSports team defeated Juniata College to win the inaugural Landmark Conference League of Legends eSports Championship.

The five-member team swept Juniata 3-0 in a match held at Elizabethtown College. The Rangers reached the finals after a win against Catholic University.

“Everyone that plays this game dreams and wishes to be on a stage and play one day,” said team captain Luke Henry C’21. “And then to win? It’s surreal.”

Fresh off the Landmark championship, the team traveled to Albany to compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference playoffs, where it reached the semifinals. Next up is the national play-in League of Legends Collegiate Championship.

“We are preparing to take Drew as far as we can into the play-in tournament to make a name for ourselves,” said Henry.
