Two gold, two silver for digital media and fundraising communications.
January 2018 – Drew University earned four awards—two gold and two silver—from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
The golds—for Digital Media and Fundraising Campaign—recognized the success of Drew’s 150-Hour Challenge, a June 2017 fundraising push that raised $380,000 from 1,387 donors in six days, thereby unlocking an additional $150,000 gift from Board of Trustees Chair Dean Criares.
The campaign celebrated Drew’s 150th anniversary and featured a series of squirrel characters dressed in period clothing, each representing a different era in the school’s history. Initially, Drew set a goal of 867 donors—a nod to 1867, the year the school opened—and after every 100 donors, the squirrel changed on all communications platforms, including the 150-Hour Challenge web page, to represent progress toward the goal. Drew ultimately surpassed the goal by 60 percent.
Earning silvers were Drew.edu (Websites: Institutional Home Page) and the web page for Drew’s multi-year One And All fundraising campaign (Websites).
Between 2016 and 2017, Drew redesigned its entire website with the primary goal of attracting and engaging prospective students. The new site is mobile-friendly, easy to navigate and customizable, with an option that enables students to build their own home pages based on topics that appeal to them.
The One And All page uses graphics to illustrate where the money goes and alumni participation in the campaign, which raised $85.4 million from 14,001 donors. The page also features a video of thankful students and an option to search donors by name.
The 2018 CASE District II Achievement Awards recognized some 60 schools in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Washington, D.C. and Ontario. This year, CASE bestowed 114 awards in 33 categories.
