Dear members of the Drew community,
This week another tragedy in Minnesota once again points out how far we have to go in this country to establish civil and human rights for all. Although it may be that a tragic mistake occurred, one must ask if the car would have been stopped at all if a white young man were driving.
As we hopefully begin to put Covid in the past, it is time to redirect ourselves to creating a society where human rights are observed for all our citizens.
If you are experiencing personal anxiety, emotional distress, or grief related to these—or any—incidents, Drew provides resources to assist, including those of our Center for Counseling and Psychological Services.
You may also join in programming related to combating racism, breaking down barriers, and building community; review Drew Today for these opportunities, including the Community Meeting, Wednesday, April 14, at 8 p.m.
Have a safe and healthy week,
Thomas J. Schwarz
