The University Committee on Academic Standing is concerned with the academic performance of students, with power to act on individual requests and on standing and retention of individuals. The committee also makes recommendations to the faculty on policies for academic progress, retention, and graduation of students.
All academic deadlines (add/drop dates, incomplete grade dates, etc.) are posted to the academic calendar.
Submitted petitions are reviewed weekly during the Fall and Spring terms. Students will receive a response from the committee when a decisions is made.
Academic Standing Committee petitions include, but are not limited to, requests to:
The Center for Academic Excellence maintains the “Petition to the Faculty” form which can be found on their website under the “Forms” section.
The Graduate Academic Standing Committee is composed faculty members from the Caspersen School of Graduate Studies and the Theological School, the Associate Provost for Academic Excellence, and the Associate Dean for the Theological School and Graduate Curriculum. The committee’s work focuses primarily on exceptions to the rules, student appeals, student progress issues, transfer credits, and complicated cases.
