January 2021 – Drew University had a busy 2021. Let’s take a look at the most-read stories of the last year.
Johnson-DeBaufree joined the Drew faculty in 2005 as a professor of New Testament and early Christianity, and became the associate dean of the Theological School in 2015—the same year she was awarded the distinction of Teacher/Scholar of the Year at the Theo School.
Drew University grads who applied to medical schools in 2021 earned acceptance at a rate nearly twice the national average for first-time applicants.
Drew University looked to meet students where they are with the new Fall Forward Program, which allows students to enroll mid-semester and take classes on a part-time basis.

Drew continues its run on the Princeton Review’s annual guide and moves up to fourth in the nation in international student enrollment.

In the website’s first ever rankings, Academic Influence ranked Drew 47th in the country in their list of the Best Liberal Arts Colleges & Universities in the U.S.
The new programs add to the already robust list of Dual-Degree offerings at Drew, which has partnerships with schools like Columbia, Duke, NYU, and Washington University in St. Louis in fields like business management, cybersecurity, engineering, law, medicine, and software engineering.
Drew University’s Nobel Prize-winning RISE Fellow Associate Dr. William Campbell issued a statement denouncing a fake quote attributed to him relating to COVID-19 and ivermectin.
“I utterly despise and deny the remarks attributed to me on social media on September 8, 2021. I reject both the substance and the tone of the remarks, and resent their presentation as a direct quotation. The tweet in question was not concerned with science. I am a biologist with no claim to expertise in the clinical evaluation of drugs against viral infections. Thus, I have not taken a stand in support of, or against, the efficacy of ivermectin against COVID-19.”
