September 2023 – Hispanic Heritage Month, which takes place from September 15 to October 15, is a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive histories of American citizens whose ancestors originated from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
The recognition of the month commences on September 15 as it Independence Day in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence in September, and Columbus Day, or Día de la Raza, is observed on October 12.
To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Drew students, faculty, and staff are telling their stories on what Hispanic Heritage Month means to them and how we can use this time as a teaching and learning opportunity.
