Musical groups showcase range.
April 2018 – A trio of musical concerts at Drew University offered everything from pop and sacred songs to Schubert and Mendelssohn.
The Chorale and Alta Voce presented Songs in the Key of Life, inspired by Stevie Wonder’s 1976 album. The 50 vocalists in the two groups sang music from a wide variety of popular artists, including Carly Simon and Libby Larsen.
Songs from Ubuntu, Drew’s 40-person Pan-African choir, represented cultures and languages from around the world. Finally, the Drew Orchestra offered Unfinished Business, with a focus on Franz Schubert’s unfinished Symphony No. 8. Another highlight? Two soloists performing a Konzertstück by Felix Mendelssohn. Here’s a closer look at the three concerts.
