Drew University has its roots in the Methodist church with the founding of the Drew Theological School in 1867. Religion and spiritual life are part of Drew’s history and community fabric. With a commitment to holistic wellbeing—mind, body and spirit—Drew offers opportunities to engage fully in current religious understandings and commitments, as well as to explore and discover different ways to express spirituality and wholeness. We worship, celebrate, mark life milestones, and find common goals towards social justice, ethical decision-making, and community service.
The Drew Religious Life Council
Comprised of student organization leaders and advisors reflecting and supporting various religious traditions, the Religious Life Council meets together to support each other’s activities and public rituals, and to consider ways that multi-faith gatherings can enrich the Drew community. Vigils for World Peace, Say Their Name and Anti-Asian Hate rallies to demonstrate solidarity and mutuality, a winter solstice Festival of Lights celebration, and a multi-faith Baccalaureate service of blessing for graduates are just a few of the public ways the Religious Life Council encourages relationship across the university.
