Career Development Presentations
The Center for Career Development is happy to partner with student organizations, alumni, faculty, and staff, to offer career-development workshops and presentations. Requests will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis.
To help ensure a positive program experience, we ask that:
- Requests must be made a minimum of three weeks prior to the program.
- You contact us in advance to tailor a program for your specific audience or choose from the topics below.
Presentations We Offer
The Center offers several standardized presentations designed to introduce our mission and resources and connect students with appropriate strategies for professional success.
First-year / Sophomore Presentations
Presentations for first-year and sophomore students include the following:
- An introduction to the Center’s mission and staff
- An explanation of potential timelines for professional success
- An overview of services and technology used by the Center including (but not limited to);
- Handshake
- Traitify career assessments
- An introduction to internships and the internship search process
Junior / Senior Presentations
Presentations to juniors and seniors include the following:
- An introduction to the Center’s mission and staff
- An overview of timelines specific to juniors and seniors for professional success
- An explanation of the benefits of Handshake, as well as how to use it effectively for a job or internship search
- A review of the internship search and registration process
- A discussion of how we support students interested in graduate school applications
Capstone Presentations
Capstone presentations are customized to the specific course involved, but generally can include the following:
- An introduction to the Center’s mission and staff
- An overview of tasks and timelines relevant to seniors’ timeline for professional success while at Drew and beyond
- A review of resources and tools available, such as Handshake
- A discussion of networking and professional profiles such as Linkedin
- An explanation of support we offer for students interested in graduate school
- Job search tips and assistance
Customized Presentations
Our team can also offer highly customized presentations to suit the specific needs of your audience. Topics we can cover include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Career development / finding your vocation
- Development of professional documentation (resumes, cover letters, etc.)
- Development of professional profiles (Linkedin, Handshake)
- Preparation for job or internship interviews
- Exploration of graduate school application resources and support
- Professionalism in the workplace
- Professional dress advice and support
