Bridging the gap between faith and health

August 2021 – A hearty faith can lead to a healthier world. This is the belief behind Drew’s Religion and Global Health Forum, founded and directed by Kenneth Ngwa.

Ngwa, who recently earned a promotion to full professor of Hebrew bible, launched the forum to bridge the diverse worlds of faith and medicine to improve individual and public health outcomes globally.

“Religion and faith can and do function as health care assets and as a catalyst for high quality healthcare, both nationally and internationally,” said Ngwa.

Under Ngwa’s direction, the Religion & Global Health Forum launched Never Stop Breathing, a movement for health and social justice that focuses on eliminating health disparities and resourcing quality solutions to systemic health and social inequities in globally and locally.

Ngwa holds a PhD from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Master of Divinity from the Faculty of Protestant Theology in Cameroon, his native country. His major research interests are in the areas of ancient Israelite wisdom literature and Africana biblical hermeneutics. He has authored The Hermeneutics of the ‘Happy’ Ending in Job 42:7-17. His second monograph, Let My People Live: An Africana Reading of Exodus, is anticipated in 2022.

Ngwa has been heard quoting the African proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
