Appointment of an Interim Director of the University Library, 4/29/21

Colleagues,

As many of you already know, Andrew Bonamici has announced his plans to retire from his position as University Librarian at the end of this semester. Andrew joined Drew in 2018, and the University has benefited from his service. We all wish Andrew the best in his retirement!

It is my pleasure to announce that Guy Dobson has enthusiastically accepted my request to serve as the Interim Director of the University Library. His appointment will begin on May 17th and continue through the end of the calendar year.

Based on my conversations with many of you, I know that having a respected and thoughtful colleague in this library leadership position is what is most important during this period of transition. This is only one of the reasons why I am so happy to welcome Guy into this role. We have already had several conversations about the responsibilities of the position, and in each of those conversations, Guy has been clear about his leadership approach as well as the ways in which he would balance his new responsibilities with those in his current work. I will, of course, continue to be in conversation with him about all of these issues as we move forward, and I’m looking forward to working with him in this new capacity.

Instructional Technology will not report to the Interim Director of the Library during this time period; while everyone will continue to work together collaboratively, Shawn will report to me directly.

Please join me in congratulating Guy, and thanking him for his willingness to serve in this capacity!

Best,
Jessica
