In her own words
“The professors at Drew have helped me reach my goal of going to graduate school by encouraging me to pursue opportunities both on and off campus, including internships with Pfizer and Ledge Light Public Health. These opportunities enabled me to find my passion for public health. Drew University also allowed me to combine my interest in psychology and public health through various coursework, culminating in my honors thesis.”
Gaining real-world experience
“During my time with Ledge Light’s environmental team I learned a lot about public health regulations. It was through talking to people there that I learned more about the hundreds of different ways that you can use a degree in public health. My time with Pfizer’s Environmental health and Safety program was mostly focused on occupation health— helping update safety information regarding the chemicals kept onsite, as well as helping to perform air sampling and noise level tests to determine if employees were protected from the compounds and machines that they were using. This internship really opened my eyes to the way that our environment and occupations can have major effects on our health.”
