Sean Hewitt, Director of the Center for Civic Engagement

Black History Month, founded by Carter G Woodson, is an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of African Diasporic people in American history.

As an African American, I have learned immensely from prior generations of civically engaged leaders ,which helps inform how I approach my work and perspective connecting community and the classroom.

It is important that we (as a community) continue to inspire future generations to contribute to a world of inclusivity, equity, and integrity.
