Drew University Moves Up 10 Spots in Latest U.S. News Rankings

#83 in country, #8 in social mobility

September 2024 – Drew University has received another top ranking highlighting the quality of education and the University’s commitment to social mobility. U.S. News & World Report has placed Drew 83rd among national liberal arts colleges on their 2025 Best Colleges list.

This marks another jump in national rankings—up from 93rd last year—as earlier this month Washington Monthly ranked Drew 57th in the country, a 16-spot improvement from last year’s cycle. Both publications use numerous factors, including graduation and retention rates, financial resources, affordability, and social mobility, in their rankings.

“This recognition emphasizes the very values that make Drew distinct and special: our focus on preparing students for successful and fulfilling lives through purposeful experiences supported by a network of mentors,” said President Hilary L. Link, PhD. “We’re thrilled that U.S. News and Washington Monthly continue to recognize Drew as the highest-rated liberal arts college in New Jersey.”

In addition to the overall ranking, Drew ranked eighth in the country in U.S. News’ social mobility category, which spotlights colleges that  enroll and graduate Pell-eligible students.

Drew was also included in U.S. News‘ Best Undergraduate Psychology category.

Drew has also been recognized by:

  • The Princeton Review: Named Drew to Best 390 Colleges list, which includes only 15 percent of the nation’s schools, and gave top 20 marks in their Best College Theater and Lots of Race/Class Interaction categories.
  • Washington Monthly: Not only ranked Drew among the top 60 liberal arts colleges, but also gave high marks for social mobility and praised Drew in their Best Bang for the Buck category.
  • The Princeton Review, Fiske Guide to Colleges, Washington Monthly, and Money.com: Named a Best Value School.
  • Forbes: Recognized Drew among the nation’s top 400 colleges and universities based on the outcomes of graduates and the return on investment.
  • The Institute of International Education: Ranked Drew 11th among U.S. baccalaureate colleges for international student enrollment—with students hailing from more than 60 countries and making a home in Drew’s diverse community.
