Ways to Give
There are many ways you can donate to Drew University.
Drew’s fiscal year is July 1–June 30 every year. Gifts to Drew University, which are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, must be received or postmarked by December 31 to be eligible for a charitable deduction on income tax returns for that calendar year, or by June 30 to be included in the University’s fiscal year–end totals.
The most immediate impact comes from outright gifts. Learn more about how to make your gift by check, credit card, wire transfer, appreciated securities or matching gift donation.
Drew accepts gifts online. To make a gift using your credit card, please access our secure, easy-to-use make-a-gift form.
Checks made payable to “Drew University” should be sent to: Drew University, Office of University Advancement, 36 Madison Avenue, Madison, NJ 07940
You may call 973-408-3762.
While most donors send personal checks, Drew also accepts cash gifts by wire transfer. To make a gift to Drew by wire, please contact us at giving@drew.edu or 973-408-3762.
Donating appreciated securities is an outstanding and easy way to show your support for Drew. It may also provide you with significant tax benefits including the opportunity to avoid paying capital gains taxes on the donated assets.
Note: Before transferring any securities to Drew, please contact the Office of University Advancement at giving@drew.edu or 973-408-3762. It is important that the University know—in advance—the name of the stock and the number of shares you will be donating so that we can properly identify and record your gift.
Many companies offer a matching gift program that can double or triple the amount of your gift. Check with your company’s human resources department to determine eligibility and obtain matching gift forms. Retirees, board members and spouses of employees may also be eligible. Please contact us at giving@drew.edu or 973-408-3762 with questions about matching gifts to Drew.
A recurring gift to Drew is easy and convenient and is a great way to ensure your continued support for Drew. You can easily make your gift in regular monthly installments charged to your credit card. Visit our online giving page and select “Make this Donation Monthly” or call us (973-408-3762) to set up an installment gift.
By committing to a series of donations over a period of years, you can be recognized as if you had given the combined total all at once and have a greater impact on Drew and its students. All donors who pledge elect a payment schedule and receive annual reminders about the pledge balance and amount due. Please contact the Office of University Advancement at advancement@drew.edu with questions about making a multi-year pledge to Drew.
Any gift to Drew can be made in honor or memory of a professor, student, alumnus/a or friend of the University. When a tribute gift is received, Drew sends a letter to the honoree or next-of-kin, acknowledging the commemoration.
A leadership level gift in the form of an endowed fund, such as an academic internship, scholarship or a faculty chair, is also a meaningful way to establish a permanent legacy for the donor, beloved professor or another special person. Please contact the Office of University Advancement at advancement@drew.edu with questions about tribute gifts.
Drew University accepts gifts-in-kind that are appropriate to its mission. Gifts-in-kind may include, but are not limited to, works of art, books, scientific equipment and musical instruments. Please contact the Office of University Advancement at advancement@drew.edu with questions about making a gift-in-kind to Drew.
Some gifts require special planning. These planned gifts can allow a donor to make a significant gift to Drew, generate a charitable income tax deduction, provide life-income, and reduce estate and gift taxes. Begin planning your legacy by contacting the Office of University Advancement at advancement@drew.edu, or learn more about planned giving.
In December 2015, the House of Representatives and Senate passed, and the President signed into law, the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, which makes permanent the IRA charitable rollover. Individuals who are at least 70½ years old when they make the gift are eligible.
When you choose to make a gift from your IRA account, the distribution is mailed (or wired) directly to Drew University. The total you distribute under this plan—to Drew and all other charitable organizations—can not exceed $100,000 in a given calendar year.
Benefits of an IRA charitable rollover:

“We both just want to give back. The reason we are where we are today is because we had the opportunity to go to college.”
Your gift makes it all possible for Drew students.
“The small size allows for you to become closer with your classmates and professors. It makes one-on-one time with your professors a normal thing and that's hard to find anywhere else.”
