Welcome to Drew 2018

August 2018 – New students arrive at Drew University, make themselves at home, make friends, share meals and begin classes.

THURSDAY FRIDAY SATURDAY SUNDAY

Monday: Let’s Go!

The many paths of The Forest are abuzz as the 2018-19 school year begins.

Sunday: Gearing Up

First-years are joined by other undergraduates and prep for the start of the semester, receiving pointers on laundry and the meal plan and shopping at the Drew Bookstore. The day ends on a high note, with a cappella groups performing in a packed EC.

Saturday: Meet Madison

Just five minutes by foot, Madison offers everything from bagels and ice cream to burgers, falafel, empanadas and pasta. Students get a free taste courtesy of the Downtown Development Commission after a walking tour guided by orientation leaders, President MaryAnn Baenninger and Mayor Bob Conley.

Friday: Eats and Greets

Between meals, students are introduced to their Drew Seminars and huddle with faculty mentors. At the same time, transfer students arrive on campus and the Theological School hosts a picnic and community worship.

Thursday: Hello, Forest!

Class of 2022 students are welcomed by a crew of returning undergrads, faculty, staffers and administrators, who haul boxes, bins, luggage and refrigerators to their dorms. After lunch, the newcomers attend a ceremony behind Mead Hall and hug their parents goodbye. Later, they socialize during Playfair at Simon Forum and around a food truck at Tolley/Brown Circle.
