Pieces blend sculpture and audio.
February 2019 – Artist Jack Ryan’s exhibit in the Korn Gallery at Drew University delves into the dark side of sound.
About a dozen pieces explore early avant-garde sound production and its possible connection to covert government agency operations. In a statement on the exhibit, “Sound and Suspicion,” the artist also noted that his work has “ridiculous components and elements of humor.”
Ryan, an associate professor at the University of Oregon, has displayed his art in France, Switzerland, Egypt, Ireland and Washington, D.C. Here’s a peek at his Drew show, which was curated by Drew Associate Professor Lee Arnold.
