Philippa Gerber-Stroh
Community High School
Roanoke, Va.
Why Drew?
“I was amazed by its proximity to New York City and the theatre opportunities that offers. The idea that I could go to school on such a beautiful campus and still reap the benefits of the city seemed, quite honestly, too good to be true! Also, every interaction I had with people on campus made me feel so welcomed and encouraged to engage and learn.”
About Philippa
Philippa is passionate about theatre and music, acting in a dozen plays, singing in a band class at Community, organizing school dances and performing at community festivals. Outside of school, she loves listening to podcasts and shopping at thrift stores. She’s also fascinated by true crime.

Lilly Porter
Eastbourne College
Eastbourne, England
Why Drew?
“Drew stood out to me because of its small, picturesque campus, closeness to a great city and progressive approach on higher education.”
About Lilly
Lilly’s interests range from English literature to field hockey. Drama courses at Eastbourne, a secondary school for teens, inspired her to create and act in three plays. She also developed an appreciation for the classics and 20th century dystopian fiction. As a volunteer, she taught English to children in Thailand and helped out on a farm run by women in the Himalayas.

Donyah Richardson-Thurmond
Science Park High School
Newark, N.J.
Why Drew?
“Drew has my intended majors and much more that I can be exposed to as opposed to other schools. Also, it’s close to home, but far enough to ensure that I will still have a nourishing college experience. And it has a beautiful campus.”
About Donyah
Donyah is artistic and expressive, be it performing in band or choir, writing for her high school literary magazine, drawing, painting or cheerleading. She’s also entrepreneurial, having won the BizCamp Student Pitch Competition for proposing an app that “empowers people of color to love themselves and their hair without chemicals.” In addition, she earned the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Scholarship.
