Drew Theological School Garners High Visibility at the AAR/SBL National Meeting

Highlights include faculty and students presenting internationally.

January 2020 – Drew Theological School is a prominent participant at the American Academy of Religion and Society of Biblical Literature Annual Meetings, and this year was no exception.

Held in San Diego, the annual event is the world’s largest gathering of leading scholars in the field of religion and includes academic sessions, workshops, meetings and receptions with an estimated 10,000 attendees.

Drew faculty and students participated throughout the four-day event. Here are the highlights.

Drew Students Present Nationally
Dozens of Drew students and faculty presented at sessions throughout the conference, with five students presenting nationally for the first time in their careers, including Doctor of Philosophy students Hunter Bragg, Hilary Floyd, Eun Sung Han, Lauren Sawyer and Master of Divinity student Ha Young Kang.

Faculty Authors Present their Publications
Traci West, James W. Pearsall Professor of Christian Ethics and African American Studies, was invited to respond to a session surrounding her recently published book, Solidarity and Defiant Spirituality. Catherine Keller, George T. Cobb Professor of Constructive Theology and author of Political Theology of the Earth, was also given the distinction of responding during a session with the same title.
