Honorary degree recipients will join faculty/student speakers at Commencement ceremonies
April 2022 – Drew University has announced its 2022 Commencement speakers and honorary degree recipients.
The College of Liberal Arts, the Caspersen School of Graduate Studies, and Drew Theological School will each have their own separate ceremonies to distinctly honor their respective graduating classes. Each ceremony will feature their own speakers, including honorary degree recipients, students, and faculty.
This year’s honorary degree recipients, as awarded by the Board of Trustees, are Dr. Luis Jódar, Dr. Kimani Paul-Emile, and the Rev. Dr. Janet L. Wolf.
Dr. Jódar will receive a Doctor of Sciences and Dr. Paul-Emile will receive a Doctor of Humane Letters, and speak at the College of Liberal Arts ceremony on Saturday, May 14. The Rev. Dr. Wolf will be awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters and deliver an address at the Drew Theological School ceremony on Friday, May 13. Read more about the speakers here.
Merel Visse, associate professor and director of medical and health humanities, will serve as the Commencement speaker at the Caspersen ceremony.
Each school’s ceremony will also feature student speakers. Fernando Cardoza Ochoa C’22, a Spanish and neuroscience double major and sociology minor, will represent the CLA; Jessica Brosnan G’22, a Doctor of Letters candidate, will speak for Caspersen; and Leah Wandera T’22, a Master of Divinity – Social Justice Advocacy candidate, will speak for the Theological School.
