Drew University Opens School, Welcomes Newest Students

Fall orientation saw first-year and transfer students explore campus, Madison

August 2024 – Drew University welcomed its newest students to campus for fall orientation to kick off the 2024-25 academic year.

Students and families arrived in droves to move into dorms, with the help of the ever-efficient and ever-energetic Move-In crew. Click here for photos!

New students mixed and mingled at meals and gatherings, and first-year students got a sneak peak at college academics, taking in their first Drew Seminar (DSEM) class.

The first-year and transfer cohorts posed for their class photos on Hoyt Lawn and the Mead Hall steps, respectively, and walked down Graduation Path to the Opening of School Ceremony, mirroring the same steps they’ll take at their commencement ceremonies. Click here for photos!

“You are beginning a life-changing journey. You are on the threshold of great adventure, engagement, friendship, and more,” said President Hilary L. Link, PhD, to students and families on Mead Hall Lawn. “Know that Drew will give you the tools, the opportunities, the connections, the research experience, the mentoring, and the sense of self to become the citizens, and the leaders our world needs now more than ever.”

Throughout orientation, students explored the resources and facilities on campus, and toured downtown Madison, stopping in stores and grabbing lunch (and dessert) in some of the borough’s top spots. Click here for photos!

The festivities concluded with RecFest, complete with ice cream trucks, lawn games, and a chance to chat with fast friends made over the first few days of life at Drew. Click here for photos!
