Where she’s headed: Taking part in Drew’s Dual-Degree Program in Mechanical Engineering with Columbia University

On her time at Drew: “At Drew, I grew more than I ever expected, and looking back, I am incredibly proud of what I have accomplished. Being accepted into Columbia was a huge milestone, but so was excelling in my classes and pushing myself beyond what I thought I was capable of. Outside of academics, swimming was also a big part of my journey. I was awarded Rookie of the Year and MVP my first year, and I am so grateful that I also played a part in my team’s success at winning our conference championships. Drew gave me the space to find myself and the support to thrive, and for that I am truly grateful.”

On her time at Drew: “My time at Drew has been one of collaboration and connection. It’s the most meaningful takeaway I have from my four years here. I am so grateful for the encouragement I’ve received from the different departments, groups, students, and faculty I’ve interacted with. I think there is something to be said about having the ability to pursue truly every interest you might have and never feeling the pressure to stay within one subject or one focus. I am a better student and person for it. The community at Drew has encouraged me not only to engage but to be critical and active about how I was engaging. I have learned to bring my strengths into a wide range of environments. For example, I’m completing my seniors honors thesis for the Spanish department, but it pulls greatly in theoretical framework and research design from the past knowledge and experiences I’ve had as an Action Scholar and student researcher in the Psychology department. This is just one instance where I’ve had the opportunity to apply my skill set to different lenses, and in the process my ability to use said skills has been transformed.”

Ashley Rogers C’25

On what makes Drew special: “While there are many factors that make Drew special, including its interdisciplinary curriculum, beautiful campus in The Forest, and numerous research programs like RISE and DSSI, one of the greatest facets of my college career was getting to foster close-knit relationships with my professors. I will undoubtedly miss attending Drew, but am eternally grateful for the countless opportunities offered to me as a student.”
