Drew University Adds Two Members to Board of Trustees

Education administrator Michael Felton and screenwriter Jonathon Stewart

June 2026 – The Drew University Board of Trustees has welcomed two new members, Michael Felton and Jonathon Stewart.

Both Felton and Stewart have been elected to four-year terms on the University’s board.

“We are excited to welcome Mike and Jon to the Board of Trustees,” said William W. Landis III C’82, chair of the Board of Trustees. “They will bring unique, valuable perspectives and skillsets to the board and we look forward to working with them to help lead Drew University into its exciting future.”

Felton received his undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College and his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law. After beginning his career as a law clerk, he was hired as the first superintendent in Maine’s St. George Municipal School Unit. Over the last decade in his role, Felton has focused on building partnerships with businesses, nonprofits, and civic organizations to better meet the needs of students and families. The district’s projects have received national media and award recognition for their innovation and impact. He has received the Maine Department of Education Commissioner’s Award and the Maine School Management Association Outstanding Educational Leadership Award, and serves on a number of committees and boards in Maine.

Felton has become particularly familiar with Drew over the last several years. Since being introduced to Drew leadership in 2023, Felton has taken part in several innovation-related Drew events, including the Wisdom Meets Innovation convening Drew co-hosted with the Wallis Annenberg Legacy Foundation in April 2025 in Los Angeles, and The Future of Higher Education convening hosted on Drew’s campus in November 2025.

Stewart is a screenwriter best known for Pixar/Disney’s Cars 3, Smallfoot, Angry Birds 2, and Warner Bros.’ Scoob and Seuss biopic. He has written screenplays and pilots for DreamWorks, Universal, Warner Bros., Paramount, ABC Studios, STX, Paramount Animation, Sony Animation, Fox Animation, and Netflix Animation, and served on Pixar Animation Studios’ Braintrust.

In addition to screenwriting, Stewart is the founder of Voiceprint, a proprietary voice extraction platform; a creative strategist for clients including Microsoft, MTV, the New York Times, Verizon, Walmart, PepsiCo, eBay, and the Discovery Channel, on the essential role of storytelling and crafting compelling narratives in business, education, and technology; and the creator of NarrativeDrive.org, a platform to mentor new, diverse, and previously undiscovered voices in writing by providing year-round workshops and classes.

Like Felton, Stewart has worked closely with Drew leadership over the last several years and served as a panelist in Drew’s Wisdom Meets Innovation and The Future of Higher Education convenings.
