Marissa's Bio
International Relations and Spanish Majors; Economics Minor
Being in New York City, networking with Drew alum and going to organizations in my interested fields was an unforgettable experience that helped me learn specific areas of study that I wished to pursue more! Creating those relationships with my peers, alumni and professors helped propel me forward in my college experience.
My time abroad is something I hold very close to me because of the travel, people and culture I had there. I had lived in Sevilla, Spain previously, but Barcelona was the perfect fit for a college study abroad! One of my favorite things was attending classes at La Universitat de Barcelona and interning for a Spanish consignment store!
Tyler's Bio
International Relations, French and Francophone Studies Majors
My time abroad in France and in NYC for the Semester on the United Nations really helped connect my academic experience at Drew with the real world. At the UN, I saw global politics that I had discussed in class take place. In France, I improved my language abilities and had new and interesting conversations. Both of these experiences expanded my understanding of the world around me and how the material I studied in my classes applied to the real world.
Annabelle's Bio
Studio Art and Media & Communications Majors
Studying abroad in Rome changed my life. I visited my first international art fair on a class trip, and went to more museums and galleries than another person might go to in an entire lifetime. I learned how to be entirely self-sufficient, and found a love for cooking. I explored archeological digs in my history class. Being a non-major, I never felt out of place. I ran my first 5k along the oldest road in Rome. After the semester, I traveled for a month on Eurail. It was incredible!
Andzani's Bio
I loved how our activities were a creative look at environmental psychology (such as street photography and interviewing locals) but not limited to just that. We also snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef, explored the Daintree Forest by starlight, and chilled with kangaroos! It was great that you did not have to be a Psychology Major to participate. Although focused on STEM, I recognize the necessity to incorporate psychology and other fields. As an aspiring environmental engineer I saw the potential of this TREC to provide insight into my future career.
I would highly recommend joining a TREC program and would advise anyone to take advantage of the scholarships and not be afraid to ask questions.
