Alpha Kappa Delta
Candidates for election to the Nu Chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta of Drew University must satisfy the following criteria:
• Have declared Sociology as their major prior to his/her senior year
• Have a 3.5 GPA in Sociology
• Have a 3.33 overall GPA
• Have completed a minimum of 16 credits in Sociology course work before spring semester.
• Have completed a minimum of 56 credits of university course work before spring semester (Junior Standing)
Members of the NU Chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta at Drew University must not only have compiled records of superb academic accomplishment but also demonstrate superior legal/ethical behavior consistent with the good citizenship expected of Drew students. The Sociology Department reserves the right to deny membership in Alpha Kappa Delta to any student who fails to meet these high standards even if that candidate satisfied all the academic criteria required for election to the NU Chapter of this international sociological honorary society.
Sociology Club
To achieve this goal the student officers of the club conduct a number of programs, including a Career Night which features Drew alumni discussing what they did with their sociology major and/or minor, a social with the departmental staff discussing the format of courses they will be offering in the upcoming semester, various lectures offered by outstanding speakers on topics relevant to sociology, and an array of films depicting contemporary sociological issues and topics.
Sociology Club events are open to all Drew students.
