Drew congratulates the Theological School alum on the incredible achievement
October 2021 – The Rev. Dr. Emma Jordan-Simpson T’09 has been named the next President of Auburn Seminary. The decision was announced after an intense 11-month search.
Jordan-Simpson earned her Doctor of Ministry with distinction in Congregational Growth and Development from Drew Theological School.
“We enthusiastically congratulate the Rev. Dr. Jordan-Simpson, whose leadership has made a lasting impact on the church and the non-profit world since graduating with her DMin in 2009. Auburn Seminary is gaining a creative and courageous leader at a critical time for theological education,” said Meredith Hoxie Schol, director of doctoral studies.
An ordained minister, Jordan-Simpson is the executive pastor at Concord Baptist Church of Christ in Brooklyn—where her husband, the Rev. Dr. Gary Simpson, associate professor of homiletics, serves as the leading pastor.
Previously, Jordan-Simpson served as executive director of the Fellowship of Reconciliation USA, the oldest interfaith peace group in U.S. history. She served as executive director for both the Children’s Defense Fund-New York and Girls Incorporated in New York City.
Jordan-Simpson’s path has led her to this appointment. “Answering the call of this moment is an honor,” she said.
