Master of Science in Finance students prepared for the CFA Program, credential exams
November 2021 – Drew University has become the latest school to be welcomed into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program (UAP).
Drew’s Master of Science in Finance program has been acknowledged as incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct within the program. These programs position students well to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charter, which has become the most respected and recognized investment credential in the world.
Drew’s entry into the CFA Institute UAP signals to potential students, employers, and the marketplace that Drew’s curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to prepare students to sit for the CFA exams.
Through participation in this program, Drew is also eligible to receive a limited number of CFA Program Student Scholarships each year.
“We are delighted to be included in the CFA Institute’s University Affiliates Program,” said Steve Firestone, director of the Master of Science in Finance program.
“The CFA Institute’s emphasis on promoting the highest possible standards and ethics in the investment profession to ensure that financial markets serve the ultimate benefit of society, aligns perfectly with Drew’s mission and values. Furthermore, the MFin program has been designed based on the CFA program’s goal of providing professionals with advanced investment analysis and real-world portfolio management skills for diverse career paths in a competitive industry. This collaboration will provide new benefits to our Master of Science in Finance students to expand their professional portfolio while accelerating their knowledge of investments.”
Drew’s 30-credit, STEM-designated Master of Science in Finance program launched in 2018 and can be studied either full-time or part-time. The program offers a mix of theoretical and applied courses seeking a balance between the theory and empirical aspects of finance, tying different aspects with the rigor that analysis and financial management requires.
The new CFA Institute UAP partnership is the latest addition to the growing Business and Finance programs at Drew, stemming directly from rapidly increasing student interest.
The University recently announced the addition of a Masters of Science in Finance Dual-Degree program—allowing undergrads to begin their graduate studies early and accelerate their immersion into the world of finance—as well as new concentrations in financial engineering and investment management.
Drew’s undergraduate Business program has grown from just 10 majors in 2009 to becoming the most popular major on campus, with more than 200 current majors. To meet student interest, Drew has also recently added new undergraduate majors in finance, marketing, and accounting.
