Drew Theological School Hosts Open Doors Event

Prospective students from across the globe join classes and worship

April 2022 – Prospective Drew Theological School students from across the globe gathered virtually to experience a day as a Drew student during the annual Open Doors event.

Future faith leaders representing four continents from as close as New Jersey to as far as Nigeria were able to experience Drew by participating in worship, conversations, and classes throughout the day.

“Open Doors at Drew is an opportunity to get to know Drew Theological School as a place that values thinking, action, flexibility, and creativity,” said Kevin D. Miller, executive director of graduate admissions. “The Theological School has trained rooted, innovative, and courageous leaders for more than 150 years for service to the Church, the academy, and society. The day provides a realistic glimpse of life as a Drew Theological School student.”

Classes held by Drew’s esteemed faculty were said to be “awesome sessions; helpful and informative” by an attendee. The group shared conversations on the benefits of Drew’s various degree programs over lunch with the School’s faculty, students, and alums.

Drew’s Latinx Caucus held chapel service with The Rev. Dr. Francisco Pelaez-Diaz, assistant teaching professor in Latinx studies and ministries, preaching.

Current students shared their hopes and desires for the future during a student panel discussion led by Associate Dean of Vocation and Formation Tanya Linn Bennett. “It was really helpful in thinking and praying about my next steps in life,” said a prospective student. “It also renewed my sense of what it would be like to be a student.”

“The overall vibe was so positive and encouraged me to attend Drew.”
