“Drew has led me to these possibilities through the support of faculty and my classmates and friends.”
May 2022 – We’re taking a look at where some of the Drew University College of Liberal Arts Class of 2022 is heading.
Maddy Sands C’22
Psychology major, theatre arts and dance double minor
Chair of Drew University Dramatic Society, Drew Rangerettes, Dance Department teaching assistant.
Where she’s going
“I’m a huge Disney fan. I will be attending the Disney College Program in Orlando, FL, where I will be working as a cast member at Walt Disney World. I participated in the New York Semester on Theater where I worked with Tectonic Theater with Lisa Brenner, [chair, professor of theatre], and Chris Ceraso, [professor of theatre arts]. I have also been a choreographer for the last five Dance shows at Drew, both in-person and on Zoom, all of which helped me discover my post-college plans. I plan to take what I’ve learned in my major as well as all of the courses and my experience in theater and dance, and combine them into becoming a licensed drama and movement therapist after earning my masters.”
Discovering her passion
“Drew has led me to these possibilities through the support of faculty and my classmates and friends. I’ve been a teaching assistant for Kimani Fowlin, [assistant professor of dance], for the last two years. I want to give a huge shoutout to Kimani for being one of my biggest supporters over the last few years and pushing me to be the best version of myself. Through the theatre & dance program, as well as my studies in my psych major and the support and kindness of Jill Cermele, [chair, professor of psychology], Chris Medvecky, [associate teaching professor or psychology], and G. Scott Morgan, [associate professor of psychology], I would not have discovered my passion for both mental health and the arts.”
