The alum will return to The Forest on August 1
July 2022 – Drew Theological School has announced the appointment of Dr. Robert Seesengood T’04 as associate dean for academic affairs. His term will commence on August 1.
Seesengood earned his PhD in Biblical Studies: New Testament and Early Christianity from Drew, where he has also served as an adjunct assistant professor of classics and religion and adjunct lecturer in classics and religion.
He returns to Drew from Albright College where he was associate dean of first year experience and general education and professor of religious studies.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Seesengood back to Drew in his new role as associate dean for academic affairs,” said Theological School Dean Edwin David Aponte. “He brings with him a wealth of academic and administrative experience that will make him an excellent partner at this exciting time in our shared work at the Theological School.”
Seesesgood’s areas of research include Greco-Roman religions, the New Testament, ancient Greek and Christianity, and the Bible and popular culture.
“I’m so honored and excited to again be a part of the Drew Theological School story,” said Seesengood. “I’m looking forward to partnering with this incredible faculty to celebrate Drew’s rich traditions as we move forward into a changing world and academic landscape.”
Seesengood earned his ThM from Princeton Theological Seminary and his MDiv from Harding School of Theology.
He is the author of Philemon: An Introduction and Study Guide, Jesse’s Lineage: The Legendary Lives of David, Jesus and Jesse James (with Jennifer Koosed), Paul: A Brief History, and Competing Identities: The Athlete and Gladiator in Early Christian Literature. He served as co-editor of The Bible and New Materialism and Pasolini’s St. Paul.
Seesengood is the editor of the journal Bible & Critical Theory with Rhiannon Graybill. He has two forthcoming books; The Bible and Cultural Studies: Critical Readings and Judith, and has authored several journal articles and book chapters.
