Agreement will yield a campus fashion show, pop-up boutique, and professional development opportunities for students

September 2022 – Drew University and Dress For Success of Northern New Jersey have entered into a partnership that will provide Drew students with access to professional development resources and on-campus and virtual events.

The partners will collaborate on the development of a professional attire fashion show on campus as well as a campus pop-up boutique sale during the 2022-23 academic year.

Dress For Success of Northern New Jersey will also provide internship and volunteer opportunities to Drew students; clothing to the Drew Career Closet; and specialized training for Center for Career Development staff.

“In addition to our students benefiting from Dress For Success’ expertise and resources, we also saw this partnership as a way to further reinforce Drew’s ties with and interest in collaborating with our local community,” said Chris Carbone, director of the Center for Career Development. “The people running Dress For Success of Northern New Jersey show a real passion for the work they’re doing and will be wonderful professional examples to Drew students who work and volunteer with the organization.”

Skylar Tanski C’24 is already taking advantage of the partnership, serving as an intern with Dress For Success.

“Dress For Success introduced me to the world of nonprofit work, and has allowed me to make connections with professional women from a variety of backgrounds,” said Tanski.

“Not only will this be helpful in the future, but also just hearing their stories is a touching and often educational experience. The collaboration between Dress For Success and Drew is an absolutely spectacular opportunity for students—not only because it will provide professional clothing which is usually so difficult to afford, but also because becoming involved with the Dress For Success community can introduce students to the wide variety of resources Dress For Success has to assist as students enter the workforce.”

Students interested in visiting the Career Closet to view currently available styles and discuss attire for an upcoming internship, job, or interview can make a Career Closet Consultation appointment on Handshake.
