Judith secures first place in Scripture – Academic Studies Category
June 2023 – Drew Theological School Associate Dean Robert Paul Seesengood T’04 has won a 2023 Catholic Media Association (CMA) book award for his book Wisdom Commentary: Judith, co-authored with Jennifer Koosed, professor of religious studies at Albright College.
Judith took first place in the Scripture – Academic Studies category.
As a global network of Catholic communicators, the CMA recognizes the diversity of media available today and facilitates a wide variety of honors programs for its members and those in related fields.
The awards, presented at the recent Catholic Media Conference in Baltimore, celebrate the outstanding work of members in their efforts to further the mission of the Church.
CMA hailed Judith for being “clear, well-written, and engaging. Explicit methodology that is consistently followed throughout the commentary. Well-cited. Draws the reader into the story, no small task for a commentary!”
Judith is published by Liturgical Press, which won 27 awards in total—the most awards of any Catholic publisher and the most first place wins at the event.
Seesengood is the author of Philemon: An Introduction and Study Guide, Jesse’s Lineage: The Legendary Lives of David, Jesus and Jesse James (with Jennifer Koosed), Paul: A Brief History, and Competing Identities: The Athlete and Gladiator in Early Christian Literature. He served as co-editor of The Bible and New Materialism and Pasolini’s St. Paul.
He has also edited the recently-published The Bible and Cultural Studies: Critical Readings.
