Drew University Professor Releases Sixth Jazz Record

Randy Ingram will perform in the U.S. and Europe in support of the album

November 2024 – In addition to teaching at Drew University, Randy Ingram also records jazz music and tours around the world.

Ingram, an adjunct assistant professor of music, has just released his sixth jazz record, “Aries Dance”, through Sounderscore Records. Three of the album’s songs are currently featured on Apple Music’s “Jazz Currents” playlist.

In support of his new album, Ingram will perform in New York, the west coast, and Europe throughout the fall.

Ingram focused on musical partnerships in his sixth album.

“Making a record with Billy Hart was a long time goal of mine, as his music, and the records he appears on have consistently been major sources of inspiration for me. Bassist Drew Gress has appeared on my last several albums, and has become a trusted collaborator. Just as I feel endlessly inspired by Drew’s bass playing, I felt the same way playing with Billy. Challenged, yes, but also constantly supported, like anything was possible in the moment and I could dance on the piano the way I really wanted to.”

Ingram, who directs Drew’s jazz ensemble and teaches jazz piano, music theory, and music history courses, brings his performing and recording experiences to the Drew classroom.

“I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have studied with and been mentored by some of the great performers and composers in jazz, and I feel a responsibility to pass along the wisdom they have instilled in me,” said Ingram.

“Aries Dance” can be streamed here.
