Drew University Expands Streamlined Transfer Student Pathway

Students with associate degrees from accredited U.S. colleges may join Drew with all general education requirements fulfilled

May 2025 – Drew University has expanded its transfer credit policy, creating a more accessible and streamlined pathway for students across the country to complete their four-year degree.

Effective fall 2025, students with an associate degree from an accredited college in the United States can transfer into Drew’s College of Liberal Arts with all general education requirements fulfilled.

Qualifying transfer students are able to transfer up to 80 credits and will enter with junior status.

“For many students, two-year to four-year college pathways are a strategic and deliberate decision to earn their bachelor’s degree,” said Vice President for Enrollment Management and Strategic Communications Ellen Johnson. “Drew’s new nationwide policy offers transfer students an affordable and simplified option to earning an undergraduate degree at a private institution by removing barriers and providing a clear, transparent path to completing their degrees—while taking advantage of the academic and experiential depth offered at Drew.”

With this broader flexibility, incoming transfer students can immediately dive into upper-level courses and electives, deepen their study in majors and minors, and take part in Drew’s signature New York Semesters, global study abroad programs, internships, and other immersive experiences offered through Drew’s signature experience, Launch.

“This policy makes the transfer process even easier and more inclusive,” said Sunita Bhargava, director of transfer and continuing education. “It reduces stress for students navigating the admissions process and opens the door to a Drew education for more students nationwide.”

Transfer students are eligible for merit scholarships up to $23,000, including $3,000 for Phi Theta Kappa members. On average, Drew students graduate with less federal student loan debt than students at other schools, including state institutions.

Drew’s updated policy underscores its commitment to expanding access to higher education.
