T’60s
John Wesley Brown T’61 writes, “My father, C. Maxwell Brown T’32, was also a graduate of Drew, and there is an endowed scholarship in his name for students of the Theological School. My ministries began at the California-Nevada Annual Conference in 1961, but following the awarding of my PhD from The Graduate Theological Union, Pacific School of Religion, my ministry was as a teacher and administrator in church-related colleges, Hawaii Loa College in Kaneohe, HI, and St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. While there, I taught in both the religion and psychology departments and was the administrator of the “The Paracollge,” St. Olaf’s interdisciplinary individual degree studies program. Wherever I was appointed, I was active in local parish ministries as a guest preacher and adult education teacher. Following my retirement from St. Olaf in 1996, my wife and I moved to her hometown, Santa Barbara, CA, and during my years there, I served as a “Senior Mentor” at California Luthern Church and as an Interim Associate Minister at First United Church of Christ in Santa Barbara. I am immensely grateful for the education I received at Drew, studying with Bernard Anderson, Howard Clark Kee, Robert Bull, and Carl Michalson. The preparation for my ministry that I received at Drew enabled me – at age 88 – to publish a collection of sermons and talks I gave over my 50+ years of ministry. It has been warmly received and reviewed. The book, On Having the Time of Your Life, is published by Luminare Press of Eugene, OR, and is available on Amazon Books.”

Awaiting a fourth grandchild, traveling to Scotland, and river cruising the Danube this year. Would enjoy hearing from classmates.”
