Drew Theological School PhD Student Brandan Robertson Named to 2025 OUT100 List

Recognized in the Educators category

November 2025 – Drew Theological School PhD student Brandan Robertson has been named to the 2025 OUT100, Out magazine’s annual list honoring the year’s most influential and inspiring LGBTQ+ leaders, creators, and changemakers.

Recognized in the Educators category, Robertson was honored for his work as a theologian, activist, author, and pastor dedicated to advancing a vision of Christianity that embraces inclusivity and justice. As pastor of Sunnyside Reformed Church in New York City, he uses social media and public speaking to inform the public about queer inclusive Christianity.

Robertson’s journey toward this calling has been deeply personal. “Raised in an evangelical world, I was told my gay identity would cut me off from God forever,” he said.

“This honor isn’t just about me,” he said. “It’s about every queer person of faith who’s been told they don’t belong, every spiritual seeker who’s dared to imagine a God who delights in our diversity, and every community still fighting for liberation in the face of rising hate.”

Robinson is the author of 10 books, including the most recent Queer & Christian: Reclaiming the Bible, Our Faith, and Our Place at the Table.
