Vocal Album Recorded at Drew University Receives 2026 Grammy Nomination

Susan Narucki recorded her third Grammy-nominated album at Drew’s Concert Hall

December 2025 – Soprano vocalist Susan Narucki’s album Kurtag: Kafka Fragments, recorded at Drew University’s Concert Hall, has been nominated for a Best Classical Solo Vocal Album at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in 2026.

The nomination is Narucki’s third in the category, having also received the recognition for albums in 2002 and 2020.

In reflecting on her latest nomination, Narucki praised Drew’s Concert Hall facilities.

“Making a record of classical music goes so far beyond your own performance,” explained Narucki, who in addition to her performing career serves as Distinguished Professor of Music at the University of California at San Diego.

“There is something magical about recording in a hall with an absolutely beautiful acoustic, like the one at Drew,” Narucki added. “It’s a space that supports sound from the very softest dynamic through the most intense. I felt able to relax, to be completely immersed in the process, and, in this most exacting and demanding circumstance, to feel free.”

Narucki’s Grammy nomination is one she openly shares credit for in all aspects of the process.

“Being recognized with a Grammy nomination for Best Classical Vocal Recording is an incredible honor; it celebrates the work of so many people—the music of composer György Kurtág,  my collaborator violinist Curtis Macomber, producer Judith Sherman, and the team at AVIE records,” said Narucki before again nodding to her Concert Hall recording experience.

“It’s also a recognition of the exceptional space at Drew University. Steven Brown (Concert Hall Manager) is the best. He made the process seamless. We felt entirely at home. It’s a gem of a concert hall and was a wonderful experience from start to finish.”

The Drew University Concert Hall is a available for professional audio recordings sessions. The 433-seat hall regularly hosts major campus events and ceremonies, lectures, vocal/instrumental recitals, and concerts, including an ongoing series with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
