Madison Krzanowski C’26 will also publish a book in March 2026
January 2026 – Being in college has only helped Drew University student Madison Krzanowski grow her thriving dog walking and pet sitting business.
The business is not a new venture for Krzanowski. More like the elevation of a preexisting one.
Krzanowski has been taking care of other peoples’ dogs since the age of 10 when she started pet sitting for family members. After a family move, she made a plan to turn the occasional $10 from family into a business, “for the sole purpose of hanging out with all the neighbors’ dogs.”
At age 14 Krzanowski had three clients. By the time she ended high school she had 30.
Following her love of animals, Krzanowski enrolled at the University of Vermont on a pre-veterinary track, but chose to transfer to find the right fit closer to home—Drew University.
Krzanowski found a home as part of the women’s tennis team that made the NCAA D-III Championships Bracket. After the dream season she realized her business required her full attention as it continued to grow.
“Being a student at Drew has allowed me to expand my client base massively,” said Krzanowski, noting her client base has expanded to towns like Morristown, Madison, and Chatham.
Now, Krzanowski has more than 100 clients, has become a certified dog trainer, has one dog of her own titled as an AKC intermediate trick dog, and another who has completed testing to officially become a therapy dog.
With such a large roster of clients, and still busy with school, Krzanowski has hired a number of her Drew peers each semester to help walk dogs and pet sit.
Drew has supported Krzanowski’s ventures beyond access to client and employee pools.
With the help from her English major at Drew, Krzanowski is also coming out with a book in March 2026 on dog training and psychology to guide owners to building better relationships with their dogs.
Krzanowski also pointed to the consideration of her professors as she navigates life as a student and business owner.
“So long as I am actively participating in class and keeping up with assignments, my professors have been super understanding and helpful when it comes to building my business,” said Krzanowski.
