“I’m thankful to be a Drew graduate and carry that formation with me into my writing and ministry”
January 2026 – Drew Theological School Doctor of Ministry (DMin) alum Ryan M. Roberts T’11 recently published his first book, Nudgings: Gentle Whispers, Holy Reminders, a collection of devotional reflections inviting readers to attend to God’s presence in everyday life.
Nudgings: Gentle Whispers, Holy Reminders offers short, devotional reflections designed to help readers notice God’s presence in the ordinary rhythms of daily life. Rather than offering formulas or quick spiritual fixes, the book invites a slower, more attentive faith—one that listens for God’s quiet prompts in moments of work, waiting, suffering, joy, and transition.
Drawing from scripture, personal experience, and pastoral ministry, each reflection serves as a small “nudge”—a reminder that God is already near, already at work, and already speaking. Written for longtime believers as well as those newly exploring faith, the book invites readers to pause, reflect, and respond to God with honesty and openness.
“While Nudgings grew out of years of educational leadership and pastoral ministry, it was shaped by my time at Drew University—by the theological depth, reflective practice, and attentiveness to a lived faith that the program nurtured in me,” said Roberts. “I’m thankful to be a Drew graduate and carry that formation with me into my writing and ministry.”
Roberts is an educator, pastor, and spiritual writer who serves as Associate Pastor at Eagle Nazarene Church in Eagle, Idaho. He has spent decades in ministry, education, administration, and leadership, including service at an international school in South Korea and pastoral work in a variety of contexts. He has also served as an education professor at Northwest Nazarene University.
Roberts’ writing grows out of lived experience—family life, ministry, illness, healing, and the long journey of faith—and reflects a deep commitment to scripture, spiritual formation, and the quiet work of God in everyday life.
