Drew University Arts & Sciences Faculty and Staff of Color Caucus (FSOCC)
FSOCC goals include:
- Mentoring/supporting of new and “junior” faculty, staff, and administrators of color as part of the onboarding process.
- Mentoring and creating visibility for students of color, including international students, to support belonging at Drew and amongst the community.
- Creating inclusive spaces and supportive relationships between faculty, staff, administrators, and students of color.
- Evaluating and critiquing the current curriculum and/or policies to identify areas that impede the creation of equitable spaces for people of color.
- Assessing and integrating diverse cultural, linguistic, epistemological, and decolonial frameworks into university curricula and practices to intentionally decolonize programming, teaching, and learning.
- Fostering supportive opportunities for people of color to share experiences, holding the collective accountable for its commitment to acknowledge the internalization of systems of oppression, and holding the institution accountable for its commitment to acknowledge its history and collusion in systemic oppression.
- Securing an institutional commitment to anti-racism training.
- Ensuring that people of color are represented in decision-making and hiring practices.
- Supporting the coordination, formation, and facilitation of affinity groups, in recognition of the diversity of identities, experiences, and histories within Drew and the collective.
- Formalizing and improving Drew’s institutional support for immigrant administrators, students, faculty, and staff with the delineation (and consideration) of faculty and staff structures.
- The Faculty and Staff of Color Caucus has been initiated by full-time faculty of color at Drew. If you self-identify as staff, faculty, or an administrator of color and/or American Indian/First Nations/Indigenous at Drew University, you are welcome to attend.
