School ranks fourth in U.S. among baccalaureate colleges
November 2021 – Drew University ranks fourth in the U.S. among baccalaureate colleges in international student enrollment according to the recently-released International Education’s 2021 Open Doors report.
“This ranking recognizes the incredible work of our faculty, staff, and students to ensure that all of Drew’s academic programs are available to students from around the world,” said Frank Merckx, vice president of enrollment management and campus life.
Drew’s 442 international students helped improve upon last year’s sixth-place ranking, and placed the University 175 spots ahead of the next closest school in New Jersey.
BYU-Idaho, BYU-Hawaii, and Mount Holyoke ranked in the report’s top three for baccalaureate schools. Rounding out the top 10 are Franklin & Marshall, Denison, Macalester, Barnard, Wellesley, and Penn State-Abington.
A key facet of the University’s success in building an abundant and diverse international student body is its INTO Drew University program and International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) office, which combine to create both a clear pathway to the school and excellent academic and transitional support for the students once on campus.
“The INTO program builds a strong pipeline of international student enrollees, and offers them the chance to develop language and academic skills. ISSS is also critical in helping these students adjust to life in a new country and immerse them in our vibrant, diverse, accepting campus community,” said Laura Arthur, Interim Executive Director, INTO Drew University.
“The contributions that these students bring to campus are beyond measure,” added Merckx.
“Whether in the physical or virtual classroom, co-curricular activities, student leadership, etc., our international students make our campus and academic programs richer.”
