Drew University grad founded a publishing company and PR/marketing firm
December 2021 – Drew University alum Morissa Schwartz C’15, G’20 was recently named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list in recognition for her burgeoning career in publishing and marketing.
Between graduating from Drew as an English major and writing minor in 2015 and earning her doctorate in arts and literature from the Caspersen School of Graduate Studies in 2020, Schwartz founded a book publishing company, GenZ Publishing, and a public relations and digital marketing company, Dr. Rissy’s Writing and Marketing.
GenZ Publishing, which focuses on under-represented groups and writers, has published more than 20 Amazon bestsellers in the young adult, fantasy, romance, and poetry genres, while Dr. Rissy’s has been recognized as one of the top-rated public relations/marketing firms in the New York-New Jersey region.
Schwartz points to the confidence she gained at Drew as helping start her career off strong.
“I was president of the Drew chapter of the Sigma Tau Delta international English honor society and was honored with the Chapman Prize in Poetry two years in a row. That type of positive feedback motivated me to keep writing and pursue my literary interests,” she said.
“Drew showed me that work and creativity are not mutually exclusive,” she added, recalling several fun memories inside and outside of the classroom.
