Drew Students: Thank You, Donors

Showing appreciation for transformative opportunities.

April 2018 – A gift can go a long way. It’s a simple truth that came to life at Drew University’s annual Celebration of Benefactors luncheon.

The event enables students to thank donors for the experiences they made possible. “This is an opportunity to connect with someone who supports and believes in you—a complete stranger at one time,” said Engy Gadelmawla C’18, one of the speakers at the lunch, held at Crawford Hall.

Referring to her benefactor, Joan Torrens-Hall, Gadelmawla said, “Because of your generosity, I had the ability to take off from my part-time job and spend 25 hours a week in an office, learning hands-on. Because of your generosity, the only challenge about the U.N. Semester was completing a well-researched paper on Syria … not how I was going to afford the $23 train ride each day.”

The backdrop of giving and receiving these life-changing gifts made for a feel-good afternoon in The Forest. Here’s a look at the event.
