The Council of Independent Colleges’ Work-Based Learning Consortium focuses on underrepresented student populations
September 2023 – Drew University has been selected as one of 25 institutions to take part in the Council of Independent Colleges’ (CIC) inaugural Work-Based Learning Consortium.

The goal of the consortium is to improve student access to and preparation for internships and job opportunities, with a focus on underrepresented populations.
Drew students will participate in internships worked into existing courses, providing them with opportunities to build skills, connections, and resumes.
“This program is a perfect match for Drew’s approach to the undergraduate experience built on creating opportunities for our students to get hands-on, real-world experiences that can be applied to any field and post-graduation goal,” said Ryan Hinrichs, dean of Arts and Sciences, College of Liberal Arts and Caspersen School of Graduate Studies, and professor of chemistry and environmental science.
The program will take place over multiple years and begin in spring 2024, and will involve faculty, career services staff, and chief academic officers at each selected institution.
“We are thrilled to have been selected for this program and look forward to working with the CIC to bring these valuable experiences to our students,” said Hinrichs.
