Upcoming Events: Makerspace Open House: Monday, 3/27 11am-2pm
We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of our new Makerspace called The Nest, located on the first floor of the Library’s Instructional Technology Center. The Nest is a collaborative space designed to foster creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning.
To celebrate the launch of The Nest, we’re inviting you to join us for an Open House on Monday, March 27th from 11am to 2pm. Come and meet our team and check out our amazing equipment, including two 3D printers, one resin-based and one PLA-based, as well as a laser engraver. We’ll have staff on hand to demonstrate the 3D printers and discuss the capabilities of the laser engraver.
The Nest is not just a space for tinkering, but it is also a place for meaningful classroom projects and partnerships. We are looking for faculty who share our passion for innovation and want to incorporate maker-based activities into their curricula. Join us at the event and let’s start talking about how we can work together for the Fall 2023 academic year.
And of course, we wouldn’t have a proper grand opening without some delicious food! Refreshments will be served to keep you fueled up while you explore the possibilities of The Nest.
We’re excited about this new space and can’t wait to see you at the event. Feel free to bring your colleagues and students along. We look forward to seeing you at The Nest!
What does the Instructional Technology Department Do?
Digital Humanities
Danielle Reay
The Digital Humanities (DH) initiative supports students, faculty, and staff in applying computational methods to humanities research questions. Through the use of digital tools and methods, DH allows for collaboration between students and researchers to acquire new technological skills, build websites for sharing scholarship in expanded ways online, and both critique and engage with digital approaches such as text and image analysis, digital editions, mapping, digital exhibits, data wrangling, and more.

As an Instructional Designer, I help translate the technical side of educational technology and learning management systems into practical language and usage in the classroom. I also assist in helping faculty with pedagogical considerations and best practices for design, learning, and engagement. More simply: I help others in rethinking and redesigning learning experiences.
