“[Drew] was the only school where I could truly picture myself thriving”
February 2023 – Grace Solomon C’24 was born a Drewid.
Both her parents, Elizabeth Solomon (Maund) C’92 and Robert Solomon C’93 are graduates of Drew University—where they met and later returned to exchange wedding vows.
But it was more than the family connection that brought Solomon to make Drew her own college experience.
“I chose Drew because of the community!” she said. “Before applying, I stayed on campus for an overnight and got to really experience the culture of Drew. Everyone I met was so friendly, outgoing, and it was the only school where I could truly picture myself thriving.”

For Solomon, being a legacy student adds dimension and history to her time at Drew.
“It’s a really fun part of my Drew experience,” she said. “I’m a tour guide, so during tours I like to point out the chapel where my parents got married and tell people about all the Drew ghost stories I learned from my mom.”
“There’s always weird coincidences too, like my mom and my roommate having the same math professor,” said Solomon, offering a nod to Drew’s long-standing Professor of Mathematics Steve Surace.
Solomon has been busy creating her own ambitious memories at Drew. In addition to being a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major and Neuroscience minor, she is a Baldwin Honors Scholar, Empowerment in STEM Club founder and president, The Drew Review editor, tour guide, subject tutor, teaching assistant, and student researcher.
