Honors Thesis Committee form due to the Director of Undergraduate Research (Hall of Sciences 141). If this form is submitted by email, all committee members must be copied on the email.

Thesis Committee Form

On or Before  November 8 Meeting of full thesis committee (student, thesis advisor, and committee members) to discuss Honors candidate’s thesis proposal and schedule and determine the role of each committee member.
November 19 Last day to drop Honors 410 with a W. If you and your advisor agree that you should earn credit for your work on your project this semester, you may convert your thesis to an independent study. Convert HON 410 to Independent Study
Spring Registration Register for Honors 411 course for the spring using the online form, “Individual Instruction Registration Request for CLA” found on the Registrar’s website. Honors 411 Registrations will not be approved unless Thesis Application and Committee Forms have been submitted Course Registration
By December 6
(End of Fall classes)
Completion of first chapter or equivalent. If the student fails to meet this deadline they should consider converting their thesis into an independent study. (This is a suggested deadline only; it is up to thesis advisors, committee members, and writers to determine what is most appropriate for success of individual theses regarding Fall progress.)

(Start of Spring classes)
Draft of thesis or detailed progress report due to thesis advisor. Nature of draft or progress report should be approved by thesis advisor.
February 4
(Last Day of Drop/Add Period.)
The student and advisor should have determined by this point whether the thesis is viable. After this date the 411 Spring Honors Course can only be converted into another four-credit independent study; it cannot be dropped without a “W” appearing on the student’s transcript. Convert HON 410 to Independent Study
February 19 First draft due to entire thesis committee.
February 26–March 4
Schedule a meeting with your entire thesis committee to discuss your draft of the thesis.
April 2 Second draft (full) of your thesis due to all members of your committee.
April 7–15

Arrange your defense. Choose a date before the last day of classes that is convenient for your committee. Arrange a place for your oral defense by emailing Matthew Dizinno, University Scheduler at [email protected] with your preferred room and start/end times.

Fill out the Defense Announcement Form and submit to Director of Undergraduate Research (Hall of Sciences 141). If this form is submitted by email, all signatories must be copied on the email.
