Move Out Dates

For Non-Graduating Residents for the Fall 2023 Semester: Move out is no later than 24 hours after your last exam or by Saturday, December 16th, 2024 at 10:00 AM, whichever comes first.

For Non-Graduating Residents for the Spring 2024 Semester: Move out is no later than 24 hours after your last exam or by Thursday, May 9th, 2024 at 10:00AM, whichever comes first.

For Graduating Seniors for the Spring 2024 Semester: Move out is no later than 7:00PM on Saturday, May 11th, 2024. Graduating Seniors and Commencement student volunteers participating in the College of Liberal Arts – Arts and Humanities commencement ceremony in the morning must have all of their items moved out by 7pm.

24 Hour Quiet Hours

  • Fall 2023 Semester: Begin Friday, December 8th, 2023 at 11:59 PM and ends on Saturday, December 16th, 2022 at 10:00 AM.
  • Spring 2024 Semester: Begin Tuesday, April 30th, 2024 at 11:59 PM and ends on Wednesday, May 9th at 10:00 AM.

International Student Info: Make sure I-20s are signed so you can travel.

Summer Mail Forwarding

For Graduating Seniors: please go to the Mail Center, ask for the forwarding mail slip, and for when your mail will be forwarded to another address.

For Non-Graduating Residents: please go to the Mail Center ask for the forwarding mail slip and for when your mail will be forwarded to another address. Then approximately 2 weeks before the start of the fall semester, your forwarding will end. Please see the Mail Center for the exact date.

DAMAGE BILLING APPEALS

The Appeals Process

If your room/suite accrues damage throughout the year–you will receive notification in your email over the Summer detailing the charges for restoring the room to its initial condition. This notification will include a description of damages and an appeal due date. You have the right to appeal the damages listed on your bill as long as you followed full checkout procedures. If you have filled out an Express Check-Out Form–you have waived your right to appeal (this is stated on the form.) Also, any Public Area Damage in your building cannot be appealed.

End of Year Billing Appeals

Please note that Public Area Damages done in the Residence Halls cannot be appealed. In addition, fines get posted before letters arrive. Letters are mailed on May 31st and contain detailed information regarding any fines that you are being charged with. To appeal any charges for your room/suite please contact your respective Professional Staff. All appeals must be written through email. The Professional Staff forwards all requests to Facilities. The Professional Staff is only able to grant/deny any ResLife charges, not Facilities charges. Once the appeal has been received, the Professional Staff will make any recommendations to Facilities that may be necessary for the student. The Facilities Department and/or a representative from Facilities will contact you and the Business Office should they decide to grant and appeals. We try our best to avoid any charges that may not be necessary, but because on occasion restoring areas to livable conditions does take work, we need to make sure that our means are available to ensure a great impression for the next residents.

Are you wondering what to do with your stuff at the end of the semester?The official storage provider of Drew University, Dorm Room Movers, makes your move-out simple and secure with their storage and shipping solutions.

This is how easy it is: They send you boxes and tape. You pack- that’s it. Their movers will pick up your items, store them while you’re away, and deliver everything back to you when you return!  Dorm Room Movers can also ship boxes home or wherever you need them.

Dorm Room Movers pickup dates this year are May 3rd, 6th, 7th, and 8th. The discount code for 20% off is Drew2024.

Reminder: the university doesn’t provide moving or storage assistance but Dorm Room Movers is the preferred provider for moving, storage, and shipping at Drew University.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When does my meal plan end?

For those residents staying until May 11th, you may utilize your meal plan until that date. For those staying through graduation, your meal plan will end after dinner on May 13th, 2022.

What if I have trouble leaving campus on time?

You can wait in the Ehinger Center after completing your checkout to wait for transportation.

When do I move for Summer Housing? (Summer Crossover)

The process is referred to as Summer Crossover. The process is for students who are staying in housing for the summer. This will happen from May 19th through May 22nd. More information on the housing locations will be announced soon. Students are permitted to stay in their current housing assignment until the official move out date is given by the Housing Coordinator. What can I get charged for?

The following fees include, but are not limited to:

Room Related Fees:

    • Failure to clean room
    • Personal furniture removal
    • Wall patch and/or painting
    • furniture repair
    • Missing furniture or furniture needing to be replaced
    • Door repair/replacement
    • Window repair/replacement
    • General damage and/or vandalism of property

What if I am assisting or working graduation?

For anyone who is assisting/working graduation, the buildings officially close at 7 PM on Saturday, May 14th, 2022. Anyone staying after this point must be signed up for Summer Housing through the Housing Coordinator.

Where can I park my car while packing?

Once your car is packed, please immediately move it away from the building, so others may use the spaces to load up. Please don’t block the dumpsters. Your car may be towed from the dumpster area if left there. Cars parked close to stairs and main entryways will be fined by Public Safety due to it being a fire hazard in the event of an emergency.
